Samantha Jay (National Referee Certification)
Samantha Jay recently earned her USA Volleyball National Referee certification in Salt Lake City, Utah, in April 2025. She is also a USAV National Scorer, along with being certified with AAU, PAVO, and MHSAA. She officiates high school and collegiate matches, including the 2024 MHSAA D4 state final, and earned recognition such as the Bronze Whistle Award winner for being top in her Junior National class in 2023. In addition to officiating, Samantha works full time as the Director of Sales at the St. Clair Inn. She resides in Port Huron, Michigan, with her husband, Dalton, and their French bulldogs, Maple and Poppy. Samantha enjoys going to the gym, golfing, traveling, and boating.
Grant Harris (Junior National Referee Certification)
Grant Harris is a highly respected volleyball official, mentor, and leader whose dedication to the sport spans every level of play. In 2025, he achieved his USA Volleyball Junior National Rating while working the USAV National Championships in Dallas Texas, marking a major milestone in his officiating career and reflecting his commitment to excellence, professionalism, and continuous growth.
He currently serves as CEO and Assignor of the South East Michigan Volleyball Officials Group (SEMVOG), President of the East Side Volleyball Officials Association (ESVBOA), and Varsity Head Coach at Algonac High School. Known for his leadership and passion for development, Harris has been instrumental in training and mentoring officials through programs such as the Green Whistle Initiative and numerous regional clinics.
Earning the Junior National rating stands as a testament to his years of service, dedication, and impact — both on the court and within the officiating community — as he continues to elevate the standard of volleyball across Michigan and beyond.
